Summary:
Responsible for leading the Development and Project Engineering team in the development of new products, spiral development projects, product/project transition into manufacturing, production processes and methods enabling the fulfillment of production and revenue goals.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a strategic vision and plan for the engineering department in line with the strategic vision for the Integrated Solutions organization.
Mentor and coach members of the engineering team.
Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
Manage a team of development engineers, draftsman, and technicians in support of Operational goals.
Establish and monitor project management process to track and prioritize engineering activities.
Direct, review and approve product design and process changes.
Participate in new product development process as leader within project teams, to ensure all Operations issues are addressed in a timely and effective way to support scheduled introduction of new products/projects into manufacturing.
Evaluate effectiveness of existing processes and develop and recommend new processes to improve quality and efficiency of assembly, test, and validation of products.
Communicate with other departments in Operations and Engineering, regarding status of projects, activities, and accomplishments in support of NPI and production support.
Establish and conduct activities that will generate continual improvement efforts across the engineering team and within Manufacturing.
Assist with the development and management to key metrics that will guide target areas for improvements and to communicate status and progress of activities.
Manage activities within budget; assist in preparation of budget for area of responsibility.
Other activities as appropriate, related to Engineering and Operations goals and objectives.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 5-7 years of management experience in a technical discipline, preferably complex integrated technical platforms for ISR and CBRNE sensors.
Project management/leadership experience in development projects required.

S.
in Physics or an Engineering discipline, Masters or Ph.
D.
degree desirable.
Strong verbal and written communications skills, including presentation and proposal experience for equipment, processes or new product related topics.
Strong orientation and demonstrated experience in continual process improvements, focused on improving product quality, production effectiveness, and cost reduction.
